Creating games involves the coordination of a variety of technological and creative tasks, and teams can grow as large as thousands of individuals spread across many locations. In addition, the individuals are faced with multiple layers of stress – financial, scheduling, creative decisions, and in many cases being overworked with intense “crunch” cycles. This takes a significant toll on the humans behind the process, both in their mental and physical wellness. This talk explores how mental health affects game creation and how we can better manage our ability to stay focused for the long-term.
