Support the Games Forest Club for a less heavy ecological footprint!
Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki is proud to partner with Games Forest Club to help offset the carbon footprint associated with conference travel and to care for a section of forest.
How does it work?
When you register a PGC Helsinki ticket, we will make a donation to this environmental cause on your behalf. This will go to help preserve a section of forest in Peru and also contribute to offsetting the event’s carbon footprint. Every ticket bought will include a donation to this cause.
Donations from Steel Media and our attendees at Pocket Gamer Connects conferences this year so far have protected 1,312 square metres of endangered Amazon rainforest in Peru. You can see a map of it online, and you can dive into a virtual 3D recreation of it on our official Games Forest club page.
In addition, if you want to further support this very worthy cause, you can click on the button below, which takes you to a Stripe payment page, where you can make a donation of any amount using your credit card. Perhaps consider doing this if you received a free pass to the conference.
What does this mean for your carbon footprint?
We donate an amount from every ticket sale to Games Forest, and you can donate any amount. Where does the money go? By way of example, an $85 donation will protect around 50 sqm forest in Peru, which contains up to 3000kg of carbon.
Here are some estimates to help you picture it. These are some common flights you might take (per person, per flight):
- Helsinki to Toronto, Canada: 1,490 kg CO2
- Helsinki to Seattle, US: 2,630 kg CO2
- Helsinki to London, UK: 550 kg CO2
All estimates are based on scheduled flights of an average airline, premium economy class.
In comparison:
- You emit 2000kg in driving an average car for a year
- Ethiopia’s per capita yearly emissions are 560kg
